The United Arab Emirates are reaffirming their position as global leaders in urban development and technological innovation. For the first time, Dubai and Abu Dhabi<\/strong> have been ranked among the the world\u2019s top five smart cities<\/strong> in the Smart City Index 2025<\/strong>, a ranking compiled annually by the International Institute for Management Development (IMD). This is a major accolade that highlights the two cities\u2019 ongoing efforts to improve their residents\u2019 quality of life through the use of cutting-edge technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An impressive rise in the world rankings<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Within the space of a year, Dubai and Abu Dhabi have risen spectacularly in the Smart City Index. Dubai has risen from 12th place in 2024 to 4th in 2025, whilst Abu Dhabi has climbed five places, rising from 10th to 5th. They have thus joined the ranks of the world\u2019s most innovative cities, alongside Zurich, Oslo and Geneva.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
