By outperforming giants such as San Francisco, Melbourne and Zurich, Dubai has proudly secured a place in the top 10 cities in terms of quality of life and prosperity. This is revealed in Resonance’s latest report on the world’s leading cities.
Dubai has come out on top, overtaking not only San Francisco but also Amsterdam, Los Angeles, Washington, Istanbul, Vienna, Toronto, Boston, Melbourne, Zurich and Sydney, amongst others, in terms of attractiveness and economic potential. The top three are occupied by London, followed by Paris and New York. Tokyo, Singapore and San Francisco are also on the list, but it is Dubai that stands out, ranking just ahead of Barcelona, Amsterdam and Seoul.
This ranking is based on several criteria, including the well-being of residents, the charm of the towns, and their economic vitality. It takes into account a variety of factors such as pedestrian-friendliness, cultural heritage, leisure facilities, air links, cultural and educational provision, as well as the entrepreneurial landscape, particularly start-ups.
With iconic architectural achievements such as Palm Jumeirah and the Burj Khalifa, Dubai stands out in particular, ranking eighth in the «Attractiveness» category. Its appeal is further enhanced by an impressive array of lavish shopping centres, modern aquariums, indoor ski slopes, themed leisure venues and family-friendly hotel complexes.
Across the Middle East, Abu Dhabi is not to be outdone, ranking second in the region and 25th globally. It is closely followed by Riyadh (28th), Doha (36th), Kuwait (58th) and Muscat (89th).
