To mark the’Eid al-Adha 2025, Dubai has once again demonstrated its ability to manage massive numbers of travellers whilst ensuring smooth operations and a high standard of service. Between 5 and 8 June, 629,559 people crossed the emirate’s various borders, confirming its status as an essential global hub for travellers from all over the world.

Heavy traffic spread across several entry points

Of these 630,000 passengers, the vast majority travelled via the’Dubai International Airport (DXB), which alone hosted 581,527 passengers over this four-day period. Land and sea border crossings, such as the the Hatta border and the various ports in the emirate, also recorded a high volume of traffic, rounding off this perfectly coordinated operation.

This surge in activity has become a regular feature of every major festive period, and particularly during Eid, when many residents travel or welcome visits from relatives and tourists from all over the world.

Optimised management through technology and AI

The reason Dubai is able to handle these record volumes without any major bottlenecks is down to a cutting-edge technology ecosystem deployed across all its border facilities. The smart gates (automated smart doors), the’artificial intelligence and the facial biometrics play a key role in ensuring that immigration checks are carried out swiftly.

Under the supervision of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA), these technologies enable passengers to be checked in and screened in a matter of seconds, significantly reducing queues and improving the comfort of travellers, even at peak times.

Greater coordination between all stakeholders

Beyond technology, the success of this approach also lies in the close collaboration between the various public and private organisations in the emirate : the GDRFA, DXB Airport, the port authorities, the security forces, the airlines and logistics service providers.

This coordination makes it possible to anticipate passenger flows, adjust staffing levels and streamline processes at each checkpoint. The result is: Waiting times remain under control, even with high numbers of international visitors.

Dubai reaffirms its status as a global hub

With nearly 630,000 passengers handled in just four days, Dubai has reaffirmed its central role on the global transport stage. The emirate’s ability to to cope with increasing traffic whilst maintaining high quality standards constitutes a major competitive advantage over other major international platforms.

This logistical and technological achievement is fully in line with Dubai’s vision of becoming a a smart, hyper-connected city committed to providing excellent services.

Conclusion

At busy times such as the’Eid al-Adha 2025, Dubai demonstrates that technological innovation, proactive management and inter-institutional coordination can turn logistical challenges into genuine operational successes. By providing a seamless experience for hundreds of thousands of travellers, the emirate is further cementing its position as world leader in transport and tourism hospitality.
