The Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah has recently unveiled its ambitious project to develop the largest business district in the northern region of the United Arab Emirates: RAK Central. This massive complex promises to transform the local economy and attract businesses from around the world thanks to its high-end property and hospitality offerings, as well as its unique topography.

A landmark inauguration for the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah

Sheikh Ahmad bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Ras Al Khaimah Free Economic Zone, officially opened RAK Central, a project covering 740 hectares and representing an estimated investment of several billion dirhams. This announcement forms part of the emirate’s economic diversification strategy, which aims to strengthen its position as a regional business hub.

A major project to boost the local economy

RAK Central aims to be a major economic hub in the region, featuring a large shopping centre, numerous residential and commercial areas, as well as green spaces. This modern infrastructure is designed to attract international and local businesses, thereby creating jobs and stimulating the emirate’s sustainable economic growth. Ras Al Khaimah’s unique topography, with its mountains, beaches and deserts, provides an idyllic setting for this future business district.

A business district that meets the needs of businesses

Covering a total area of nearly 740 hectares, RAK Central will offer a wide range of property options for businesses of all sizes. The project’s developers have highlighted the quality of the facilities and the choice available to meet the specific needs of each business. The main technology park, which is expected to attract companies specialising in innovation and cutting-edge technologies, is designed to be flexible and adaptable to the various industries present on the site.

Increased hotel capacity to accommodate business travellers

Aware that Hotel capacity is a key factor in attracting investors and industry professionals, Ras Al Khaimah aims to double this figure by 2025. Currently, the region has around 5,900 hotel rooms, representing an increase of 25% compared with 2018. With RAK Central, investors will have the opportunity to build additional hotels to meet the growing demand for accommodation from international and domestic visitors.

A strategic location close to the main economic centres

RAK Central is located an hour’s drive from Dubai and 45 minutes from both international airports, offering quick access to local and international transport networks. This location will enable businesses and investors to access the local and regional markets with ease. Furthermore, its proximity to other participating emirates such as Abu Dhabi and Sharjah further enhances the appeal of this new economic hub.

Modern transport infrastructure to make getting around easier

As part of the development of RAK Central, significant improvements will be made to the emirate’s road and public transport infrastructure. These include the expansion of the local road network, improvements to the existing rail network and the construction of new stations to facilitate travel between RAK Central and the region’s major cities.

A commitment to sustainable development

One of RAK Central’s main objectives is to be a model of sustainable development, with respect for the environment and society. The project involves the creation of numerous green spaces, as well as the use of innovative and environmentally responsible technologies to minimise the business district’s carbon footprint. The project’s developers have also emphasised the importance of smart, people-centred urban development in the design and construction of RAK Central. Residential, commercial and recreational spaces will be laid out in such a way as to enhance residents’ quality of life and optimise travel.

Opportunities for local businesses

RAK Central offers a unique opportunity for local businesses to increase their visibility and benefit from the synergies created by this new economic hub. There are numerous opportunities, ranging from the hospitality sector to service providers, as well as construction firms and property developers. The significant potential for economic development offered by RAK Central represents an opportunity for local entrepreneurs, who will also be able to take advantage of this modern and competitive infrastructure to expand their activities in domestic and international markets.
