46 million passengers in six months: a new milestone reached

In the first half of 2025, Dubai International Airport (DXB) has reached a new historic milestone by welcoming 46 million passengers between January and June. This figure reinforces the DXB’s position as the world’s leading aviation hub, ahead of its Asian, European and American competitors. Despite an international context marked by regional tensions, traffic rose by +2.3 % compared with the same period in 2024, which works out at an impressive average of 254,000 passengers a day.

A strategic hub at the heart of global trade flows

DXB’s performance confirms the Dubai’s central position within the global aviation network. Its ideal geographical location — halfway between Europe, Asia and Africa — makes it a natural stopover for long-haul flights. But beyond its geography, it is the quality of infrastructure, the variety of connections and the’efficiency of services which explain this surge in popularity. Emirates and flydubai, airlines based at DXB, continue to expand their network and attract an international clientele seeking comfort, speed and a seamless travel experience.

Resilient growth despite geopolitical uncertainties

Whilst several regions in the Middle East are experiencing periods of instability, DXB is maintaining a steady pace of growth, proof of the the resilience of Dubai’s economic model. The authorities were able to anticipate potential disruptions by diversifying their supply sources, strengthening security measures and maintaining constant communication regarding the stability and the opening up of the country. Dubai continues to attract tourists, business travellers and expatriates alike, confirming its status as a must-visit destination.

A driving force for the economy and tourism

The continued growth in air traffic is having a positive impact on many sectors: tourism, hospitality, retail, property, but also infrastructure and logistics. Every transit or stopover passenger generates value, either directly or indirectly, for the local economy. In this sense, DXB plays a role as strategic economic lever for the emirate, and its controlled expansion is a key pillar of the Vision 2030 from Dubai.

Conclusion: DXB reaffirms its global leadership

With 46 million passengers served in the first half of 2025, Dubai Airport proves that it is not just a transit point, but a a symbol of dynamism and global connectivity. This record is no coincidence, but the result of a long-term strategy combining investment, innovation and operational excellence. Dubai continues to fly high, and DXB remains one of its most powerful driving forces.
