Dubai, known for its spectacular auctions and exceptional charity events, has once again attracted attention with the sale of the number plate «DD 5» for 35 million AED (approximately 9.5 million dollars). This event, named «Most Noble Number», took place at the Armani Hotel in Burj Khalifa and raised an impressive total of 83.6 million AED in support of humanitarian initiatives.
This sale is part of a long-standing tradition in the United Arab Emirates, where number plates with rare numbers are symbols of prestige and social status. As well as allowing buyers to show off their exclusive cars on the road, these auctions serve a noble cause, combining luxury with a commitment to philanthropy.
A record-breaking auction to raise funds for healthcare
The auction of «DD 5» was the highlight of the evening, but other number plates also attracted spectacular bids. Other numbers sold included:
- «DD 12» for 12.8 million AED
- «DD 15» for 9.2 million AED
- «DD 24» for 6.3 million AED
- «DD 77» for 12.6 million AEDs
As well as the exclusive number plates, special telephone numbers provided by operators from the and e& UAE were also auctioned off, helping to increase the total amount raised.
All the funds raised will be donated to the campaign «Fathers’ Endowment», an initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates as well as sovereign of Dubai. This campaign aims to fund health projects, in particular the construction and modernisation of hospitals, the provision of medical equipment and support for patients in need.
