A sporting and civic event

On Sunday, November 2, 2025, Dubai will live to the rhythm of the pedals with the sixth edition of Dubai Ride, a now emblematic event of the Dubai Fitness Challenge, the sports initiative launched by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. The aim remains true to the program's philosophy: to encourage residents to engage in 30 minutes of physical activity a day for 30 days, in a friendly and inclusive atmosphere.

More than just a cycling event, Dubai Ride has become a symbol of unity and urban vitality. Every year, tens of thousands of participants - families, students, professionals and seasoned cyclists - set off at dawn to transform the city's iconic avenues into veritable cycle paths.

Two routes for all levels

For this 2025 edition, the organizers are offering two complementary itineraries to enable everyone to take part, whatever their level.

  • The 4 km family trail, accessible from age 5, will run through downtown Dubai, around the Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Mall. It's the ideal route for a morning stroll with the family, in the heart of a spectacular urban setting.
  • The 12 km sportive loop will take place on the Sheikh Zayed Road, the city's emblematic artery, which will be exceptionally closed to vehicular traffic for the occasion. Cyclists will pass by some of Dubai's most famous buildings: the Museum of the Future, Emirates Towers and Business Bay.

Departure is scheduled for 6.15 a.m. sharp, to take advantage of ideal sunrise conditions. The roads will be reopened to traffic at the end of the morning, ensuring a smooth and safe organization.

Free bicycles to encourage participation

To enable everyone to participate, the City of Dubai is renewing its partnership with Careem Bike. The self-service bikes will be free of charge from 3 a.m. to 8 a.m., thanks to the promotional code "DR25" to be entered in the application.

This initiative aims to remove logistical barriers and encourage participation by those who do not own a personal bicycle. It is part of the soft mobility policy promoted by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), which encourages the use of non-motorized modes of transport in inner-city areas.

Participants are asked to come early, wear a helmet and respect the safety instructions issued by the organizers. Water points, rest areas and medical teams will be deployed along the route.

Dubai, capital of sport for all

Dubai Ride follows on from the Dubai Fitness Challenge, a unique initiative launched in 2017 to transform residents' lifestyles. Since then, more than a million residents take part every year in the free events offered all over the city: group classes, competitions, races, hikes or giant yoga sessions.

This movement, supported by public institutions and private companies, is helping to make Dubai one of the world's most active cities. High-quality infrastructure - bike paths, parks, jogging circuits, sports areas - reinforces this dynamic. The success of the Dubai Ride illustrates this desire to make sport an integral part of urban life.

In 2025, Dubai will have more than 50 bicycle lanes, totaling almost 550 kilometers, with the ambition of reaching 1,000 km by 2030. The event on November 2 consolidates Dubai's image as a modern, sustainable cycling city.

A festive community experience

Beyond the sport, Dubai Ride is a collective celebration. The roads, closed to motorized traffic, offer an exceptional panorama of the city skyline. Many families sign up not only to pedal, but also to share a convivial moment and immortalize spectacular views of the Burj Khalifa or the Museum of the Future.

Participants can also join the sports villages set up at the start and finish points, where nutrition stands, musical entertainment, photo zones and wellness workshops will be accessible free of charge. Influencers, sports professionals and local clubs all contribute to the festive atmosphere, reinforcing the feeling of belonging to an active community.

Conclusion: a city that moves to the rhythm of sport

The 2025 edition of Dubai Ride promises to be one of the most popular since the event's inception. Between the two routes accessible to all, the free Careem bikes and the growing involvement of residents, everything is in place to make this day a popular and environmental success.

By transforming its highways into bicycle lanes for a few hours, Dubai is once again demonstrating its ability to reinvent urban space for the collective well-being. On November 2, the city will pedal in unison towards a common goal: a healthier, more active and more sustainable lifestyle.
