A sporting and community event
The Sunday 2 November 2025, Dubai will be cycling to the beat of the pedals with the the sixth edition of Dubai Ride, an event that has now become a hallmark of the Dubai Fitness Challenge, the sports initiative launched by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. The aim remains true to the programme’s philosophy: to encourage residents to take part in 30 minutes of physical activity a day for 30 days, in a friendly and inclusive atmosphere.
More than just a bike ride, Dubai Ride has become a a symbol of unity and urban vitality. Every year, tens of thousands of participants – families, students, professionals and experienced cyclists – set off at dawn to transform the city’s iconic avenues into proper cycle routes.
Two courses for all levels
For the 2025 edition, the organisers are offering two complementary routes so that everyone can take part, whatever their level.
- The 4 km family walk, suitable for children aged 5 and over, will pass through the Dubai city centre, around the Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Mall. It’s the perfect route for a morning stroll with the family, set against a spectacular urban backdrop.
- The 12 km fitness circuit will take the Sheikh Zayed Road, the city’s iconic thoroughfare, which will be closed to motor traffic for the occasion. Cyclists will ride past some of Dubai’s most famous buildings: the Museum of the Future, the Emirates Towers and Business Bay.
The departure is scheduled for 6.15 am sharp, in order to make the most of the ideal conditions at dawn. The roads will be reopened to traffic by late morning, ensuring that everything runs smoothly and safely.
Free bikes to encourage participation
To enable everyone to take part, the city of Dubai is renewing its partnership with Careem Bike. The bike-sharing schemes will be free from 3 am to 8 am thanks to the promo code “DR25” to log in to the app.
This initiative aims to remove logistical barriers and to encourage participation by those who do not own a bicycle. It forms part of the policy to sustainable transport promoted by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), which encourages the use of non-motorised modes of transport in central neighbourhoods.
Participants are invited to arrive early, to Wearing a helmet is compulsory, and to follow the safety instructions issued by the organisers. Some water points, rest areas and medical teams will be deployed along the entire route.
Dubai, the capital of sport for all
Dubai Ride is a continuation of the Dubai Fitness Challenge, a unique initiative launched in 2017 to transform the way people live. Since then, more than a million residents have taken part each year in the free events organised across the city: group classes, competitions, races, walks and giant yoga sessions.
This initiative, supported by public institutions and private companies, is helping to make Dubai one of the busiest cities in the world. High-quality facilities – cycle paths, parks, jogging tracks and sports facilities – reinforce this momentum. The success of Dubai Ride illustrates this commitment to placing sport at the heart of urban life.
In 2025, Dubai will have more than 50 cycle paths, totalling nearly 550 kilometres, with the aim of reaching 1,000 km by 2030. The event on 2 November therefore reinforces this image of cycling-friendly city, modern and sustainable.
A community-based and festive experience
Beyond sport, Dubai Ride is a community celebration. The roads closed to motor traffic offer an exceptional view of the city skyline. Many families sign up not only to cycle, but also to enjoy a cosy get-together and capture spectacular views of the Burj Khalifa or the Museum of the Future.
Participants can also join the sports villages installed at the departure and arrival points, where nutrition stands, musical entertainment, photo zones and wellness workshops will be available free of charge. Influencers, professional sportspeople and local clubs help to create a festive atmosphere, reinforcing the sense of belonging to an active community.
Conclusion: a city that moves to the rhythm of sport
The 2025 edition of Dubai Ride is shaping up to be one of the most popular since the event began. With two routes open to everyone, free Careem bikes and growing involvement from local residents, everything is coming together to make this day a popular and environmental success.
By turning its motorways into cycle paths for a few hours, Dubai is once again demonstrating its ability to reimagining urban space for the common good. On 2 November, the city will cycle in unison towards a shared goal: a healthier, more active and more sustainable lifestyle.
