Dubai, known for its spectacular auctions and exceptional charity events, once again attracted attention with the sale of the "DD 5" license plate for AED 35 million (approx. $9.5 million). The event, dubbed "Most Noble Number", took place at the Armani Hotel at Burj Khalifa and raised an impressive total of AED 83.6 million for humanitarian initiatives.

The auction is part of a long-standing tradition in the United Arab Emirates, where license plates with rare numbers are symbols of prestige and social status. In addition to allowing buyers to display their exclusivity on the road, these auctions serve a noble cause, combining luxury and philanthropic commitment.

A record auction to benefit health

The "DD 5" auction was the highlight of the evening, but other license plates also attracted spectacular bids. Other numbers sold included:

  • "DD 12" for AED 12.8 million
  • "DD 15" for AED 9.2 million
  • "DD 24" for AED 6.3 million
  • "DD 77" for AED 12.6 million

In addition to the exclusive plates, special telephone numbers provided by operators in the and e& UAE were also auctioned, helping to increase the total amount raised.

All proceeds will be donated to the "Fathers' Endowment" campaign , an initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai. The campaign aims to finance healthcare projects, including the construction and modernization of hospitals, the supply of medical equipment and support for patients in need.

Number plates, a symbol of prestige in Dubai

In Dubai, rare number plates are more than just a car accessory; they represent high social status and are often perceived as a prestigious investment. Auctions of exclusive plates are a recurring event, attracting enthusiasts, businessmen and celebrities alike.

In April 2023, an even more prestigious plate, the "P 7", was sold for a record AED 55 million, setting a world record at the time. These transactions demonstrate the growing interest in these unique collectors' items, which increase in value over time.

Dubai is renowned for its extraordinary luxury market, and these auctions only reinforce its status as a city of refinement and exclusivity.

A blend of luxury and generosity

While these auctions attract astronomical sums, they are not just a means of showing off one's wealth. They also help fund vital charitable initiatives, raising considerable sums for causes of general interest.

The 2025 edition of the "Most Noble Number" auction is a perfect illustration of this approach. By combining the exclusivity of prestige license plates with solidarity towards the most vulnerable populations, Dubai proves once again that it is a city where luxury and generosity go hand in hand.

The funds raised will support the development of healthcare infrastructures, helping to improve access to care and the quality of medical services for many people.
